Denial: No Longer Possible

I was really hoping that everything I'd heard here and there over the past few years was somehow mistaken, not really true, or magically wouldn't apply to me, but today I found out that it's actually true: homework really DOES begin in kindergarten nowadays. Grumble, grumble, grumble, harrumph.

I find this so disturbing.

You and me both, Mom and Kiddo! You know, when I was five, kindergarten did not include homework, and I ended up with a Ph.D., so....I think it's overkill.

Actually, research has proven that homework does not, in any way, impart a greater understanding of subject. Yet we still pile it on our kids, robbing them of time for creativity and physical activity, or plain old staring at the ceiling.
