Just to Be Clear About the Spinach Smoothie

People! Do not cook your spinach if you try the Green Monster (see below). RAW SPINACH, PEOPLE! It will not taste like spinach when it's all blended up, I promise you. Be sure to blend until it is totally smooth, like, uh...a smoothie.

I feel duly warned. But I might be a rebel and try it both ways since I know the iron from spinach is only available from cooked spinach. I give you full authority to say "I told you so!" :)

I cannot vouch for the taste of a Green Monster made with protein powder, by the way. I only make mine the basic way, sometimes adding 2 T. of ground flaxseed, which does not really change the taste.

Caitlin over at healthytippingpoint.com likes to make hers with the usual stuff, then also a few frozen cherries plus a scoop of Nesquik. She calls it a Chocolate Cherry Bomb. Yum! (It's no longer bright green, either, if that freaks you out!)

I did it! Loved it! Made my entire family taste it. Next time, I will put in a colored glass as my Dad didn't like the 'color'. Whateva'! I did cook the spinach...it didn't taste like spinach. But for my lack of time in the mornings, i will go for raw! Thanks for the tip!!! Loved the smoothie, I had SO MUCH ENERGY!!!

Trish--I'm tellin' ya! Isn't it awesome? I swear it is responsible for the face that I currently have 10 perfect, strong, beautiful fingernails. Seriously.
